Alan Franco is widely regarded as one of the greatest wing defenders in international football history. He was born on May 24, 1958, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Franco began his career with River Plate and quickly became one of the team's most valuable players.

In 1976, he joined Internacional de Porto Alegre, where he continued to excel in defense. He played for the club from 1976 until 1984, during which time he helped them win four league titles and one Copa Libertadores.
